Man Hospitalized After Shooting In Bartow County

The Bartow County Sheriff's Office said the victim suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound Wednesday morning.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A man was transported to an area hospital Wednesday morning after suffering from a gunshot wound in Cartersville. Deputies and investigators with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a call of the shooting around 5:30 a.m. March 7 at a home on Dean Manor Drive.

Deputies arrived to find the victim, a 24-year-old male, suffering from what's been described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the sheriff's office said (For more news like this, find your local Patch here. Deputies prepared the shooting victim for transport by a medical helicopter to the hospital, which is where he remains held at this time.

Sgt. Jonathan Rogers, spokesperson with the sheriff's office, said the investigation into the incident remains active. Detectives recovered a firearm and no charges have been filed at this point for anyone involved. The victim's name is being withheld at this time. It's also unclear whether the shooting was intentional or accidental.
