In Memory: Bill C. Green, Former Cartersville School Board Member

Green, a United States Air Force veteran, also served as past president of the Cartersville Rotary Club and owned U.S. Industrial Supply.

Bill C. Green, 83, of Cartersville, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2014.

Born January 3, 1931, in Bartow County, a son of the late Leon Green and Clifford Naomi Black Green, he was a well-known citizen of Cartersville.

Green was an active member of the Sam Jones United Methodist Church and United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Green was a twelve year member of the Cartersville School Board, member, past president and past sargeant-at-arms of the Cartersville Rotary Club, member of the Cartersville Elks Club, past president of the Cartersville Little League, served as usher captain at Sam Jones Church for ten years, was past president of the Marco Sunday School Class at Sam Jones, was an Eagle Scout and a member of the McDonald’s Romeo Coffee Club.

He owned, operated and was past president of U.S. Industrial Supply from 1969 till 2007 when he retired. After retirement he still went to the office every day.

Survivors include his wife, Rovania Green, children, Suzanne and Mike Bond, Mike Green, Barry and Charlene Green, all of Cartersville and Renee and Tommy Street, of Trussville, Alabama, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother and sister in law, Harry and Faye Green, his uncle, T.J. Green and his nephew and niece, Paul and Joan Green.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Sam Jones United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Lobello and Rev. Nina Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Chris Bond, Brad Green, Wesley Green, Dustin Harrison, Mike Bond, Tommy Street, Billy Long and Todd Dean. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sam Jones United Methodist Church Building fund.

Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive in Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
