In Memory: Kenneth McElrath, 56, Loved NASCAR and UGA Football

The Cartersville resident was a member of Emerson United Methodist Church and loved hunting, fishing and gardening.

Kenneth Alvin McElrath, 56, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away Monday, March 30,2015.

Mr. McElrath was born January 3, 1959 in Cobb County, the son of Mary Frances (Ferguson) McElrath and the late Alvin T. McElrath.

Surviving is his wife, Alta McElrath of Cartersville, his son, Richard McElrath of Cartersville and his mother, Frances McElrath of Emerson.

Kenny was a member of Emerson United Methodist Church. He loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed watching Nascar Racing, Georgia football, food and home remodeling shows. He grew up in Emerson and attended Bartow County Schools.

Kenny married Alta and moved to Cartersville. He was a dedicated husband, daddy and a well seasoned prankster. Kenny was well loved by family and friends, as well as his dogs and cats through the years. His philosophy was to “ make the best of what you have left.”

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Alred, Rev. Maria Lopez-Wells and Rev. Ken Cross officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family received friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements.
