Mother, Baby Injured In Wreck Involving Tractor Trailer

The crash occurred Tuesday afternoon along Interstate 75 near S.R. 20 in Cartersville.

Charges are pending in a two-vehicle crash that shut down Interstate 75 in Bartow County early Tuesday evening.

Around 6:42 p.m., a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer and tractor trailer were both traveling northbound on the interstate near S.R. 20 when the passenger vehicle, which was in the outside lane, hydroplaned and traveled into the middle lane occupied by the tractor trailer, said Georgia State Patrol spokesperson Tracey Watson.

The front left side of the truck struck the left middle and rear side of Mitsubishi. The driver of the Mitsubishi, Brianna Johnson, 20, of Calhoun, was injured and taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Her passenger, infant Aubri Johnson, also of Calhoun, was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston for treatment.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Donald Perrone, 45, of Naples, Florida, was also injured and taken to Cartersville Medical Center for treatment.

Watson stated charges are pending in the crash.
