The motorcyclist failed to maintain her lane, crashed into an oncoming truck and was thrown from her Harley Davidson, state troopers said.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A motorcyclist died Sunday afternoon in a head-on collision on Red Top Mountain Road in Bartow County, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Troopers were dispatched to the crash around 5:23 p.m. July 15 on Red Top Mountain Road at Red Top Beach Road near Cartersville. A preliminary report indicates a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Red Top Mountain Road while a 2006 Toyota Tundra was going westbound.

The motorcyclist was negotiating a curve when it failed to maintain its lane, crossed over into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the Tundra's left front bumper. This impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from the Harley Davidson, coming to a rest on the south shoulder near the crash site, GSP said.
