New Kroger Traffic Signal Goes Live July 26

The signal, which will feature a flashing yellow left turn arrow, will be on S.R. 113 at Kroger Drive in Cartersville.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The Georgia Department of Transportation will soon turn on a new traffic signal for the new Kroger grocery store.

Weather permitting, the signal at the intersection of S.R. 113 and Kroger Drive in the city of Cartersville is scheduled to be "fully operational" by Tuesday, July 26, Georgia DOT said.

The new signal allows for a flashing yellow left turn, said Dewayne Comer, district engineer for the Georgia DOT office in Cartersville. The flashing yellow arrow, he added, "helps drivers better understand when to make a left turn freely, when they should proceed with their turn cautiously, and when they cannot turn left."

"Our primary purpose is to reduce the crashes that result when a left-turning vehicle is struck by oncoming traffic," Comer stated.

Motorist are added to use caution until they become familiar with the changes and traffic patterns at the intersection. Other drivers may also be "surprised" by the new signal, so you should also give your vehicle plenty of space when traveling, he added.
