New Principal Appointed At Cartersville High School

Shelley Tierce will begin her tenure on July 1.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The Cartersville City School Board has named a new principal to serve at the system's high school. Shelley Tierce will succeed Marc Feuerbach, who will replace outgoing Superintendent Dr. Howard Hinesley after he retires on June 30.

Tierce's appointment was approved at called school board meeting held on Tuesday, March 27. Tierce told Patch she is "proud to be part of this positive culture" at Cartersville high School.

Tierce earned her bachelor and master's degrees from the former State University of West Georgia. She started teaching at Hiram High School in 1999 and in 2007, she transferred to teach at North Paulding High School.

She earned her specialist degree administration, and became an assistant principal at North Paulding in 2011. In 2015, he was hired as an assistant principal at Cartersville High school.

"I am excited to serve the students, our staff, and the Cartersville community as the future principal of Cartersville High School," she added. "I firmly believe the Cartersville City School System has a vested interest in the growth of our students. And as a reflection of our interests, we value education and use it as an opportunity to help students become successful components of our community."

Tierce's will formally take over the position on July 1, the same day Feuerbach will assume his new duties. Other certified employees approved at the called school board meeting include:

  • Angelica Bridges Davis, school nutrition specialist, effective May 1.
  • Leah J. Roberts, Cartersville Middle School teacher, effective 2018-2019 school year.
  • Kasi Fisher, Cartersville Middle teacher, effective 2018-2019 school year.
  • Sarah Garner, Cartersville Primary School teacher, effective 2018-2019 school year.
  • Rachel Ennis, CPS counselor, effective 2018-2019 school year.
  • Joseph Alex Shive, Cartersville High School band director, effective 2018-2019 school year.
