Good morning, everybody! It's me, Josee Noble, your host of the Cartersville Daily — back with everything you need to know about what's happening in the community today. I'll get right to it.

First, today's weather:

Here are the top three stories today in Cartersville:

  1. The official group launch of Cartersville Area Writers will be open to the public. Several speakers are lined up and authors will be present to showcase and sell their books beforehand. "I am looking forward to meeting more writers in the area and seeing these sister groups work together to reach further into our communities," said Calhoun Area Writers founder and President Karli Land. (Northwest Georgia News)
  2. Murder of Cartersville resident Patricia Hanlon has gone unsolved for 22 years. According to the GBI, the body of Patricia Hanlon, 53, was found in her Cartersville apartment on July 27, 2000. Discovered by a concerned co-worker, Hanlon was wearing her night clothes when her body was discovered. Although there were no obvious signs of forced entry, the apartment was in disarray and some items appeared to be missing. GBI officials say investigators believe Hanlon was murdered sometime between July 24 and July 27, 2000. If you have any information you feel may be helpful to this case, please contact the GBI Regional Office in Calhoun at 706-624-1424. (WRBL)
  3. Bartow County's recorded unemployment rate of three percent in June, is up five-tenths of a percent over the month. The rate was four percent a year ago. (WBHF)
