Georgia DOT continues to focus on preserving existing infrastructure by addressing deferred maintenance for state highways and bridges.
On Dec. 2, the agency awarded nine contracts totaling $27.8 million for resurfacing and maintenance of 84 miles of state highways; and seven contracts totaling $11.8 million for rehabilitation of 27 bridges and construction of five bridges across the state.
“Over the last year, with the funds resulting from the Transportation Funding Act, we have been steadily tackling the conditions of our infrastructure,” Georgia DOT Commissioner Russell R. McMurry said. “Looking ahead, we anticipate continued improvement in pavement conditions and replacements of our aging bridges.”
