Here are the top three stories today in Cartersville:
- A second officer-involved shooting has taken place in Bartow County in 10 days: According to reports, deputies responded to a trespassing call near the area of the Rock Fence Hunting Club, at 1:45 p.m. Monday. An Adairsville man was found living in a tent off the main road in the woods. As deputies approached the man, he failed to comply with commands, picked up a rifle and was shot by deputies. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The rifle recovered was determined to be a replica. (Northwest Georgia News) - The recent cold weather event has caused structural damage to both of the Bartow County senior centers located at Beavers Drive and Zena Drive. The senior centers will be closed until further notice, but the Nutrition Center will operate from the Houston Suggs Gymnasium at Hamilton Crossing Park, adjacent to the Beavers Drive Senior Center. Bartow County is actively working to re-open the facilities as soon as possible. (Bartow County Government via Facebook)
