The accident occurred around 12:20 pm. April 11 on S.R. 61/U.S. 411 at Cass White Road just north of the city of White.

A 1993 Ford Ranger was stopped at a stop sign facing eastbound on Cass White Road at its intersection of S.R. 61 while a 2005 Harley Davidson was traveling southbound on the state highway.

The driver of the truck, 18-year-old Cartersville resident Kayla B. Walker, said "she saw the motorcycle approaching, but thought it had its right blinker on and that it was turning right toward Cass White Road," the Georgia State Patrol said.

The truck entered the intersection to attempt to make a left turn onto the highway and the motorcycle hit the truck on its driver's side, the agency added.

Brad Cothran, spokesperson with Bartow County Emergency Medical Services, said crews requested a helicopter to transport the operator of the motorcycle, 53-year-old Gena L. Franklin of White, to a level one trauma center. However, Franklin went into cardiac arrest as the helicopter was making its landing.

Franklin subsequently died shortly after arriving at Cartersville Medical Center, Cothran said.

A separate investigation is being conducted by the Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team. Charges are pending the completion of this investigation.
