CARTERSVILLE, GA — Two people were killed and another was injured Monday afternoon when a minivan rolled over on Interstate 75 near Cartersville, according to authorities. Georgia State Patrol troopers, Bartow County EMS personnel, Bartow County and Cartersville fire fighters and deputies with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office all responded to the single-vehicle crash around 12:31 p.m. near mile marker 294.

A preliminary investigation shows the driver of a 2017 Dodge Caravan, 58-year-old Michael Sanders, who was "under the influence of alcohol," was traveling in the right lane when the vehicle left the west side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and then a tree with the front of the vehicle, the Georgia State Patrol told Patch.

After impact with the tree, the van overturned onto its left side. One passenger, Teresa Miller, 52, was injured and transported to Cartersville Medical Center. Two other passengers, Toni Miller, 49, and Ephesian Miller, 78, were killed in the crash. All four motorists were from Port St. Lucie, Florida, the agency added.
