Here are the top threestories today in Cartersville:

  1. Upcoming business outlook for 2023: With 3,500 jobs and a $4.5 billion to $5 billion overall investment, the planned SK On and Hyundai Motor Group EV battery plant in Bartow Centre off of U.S. 411 west will change our business model. What we're sure to see soon is a second-tier development of suppliers, housing and retail. (Northwest Georgia News)
  2. Three people were caught on camera stealing from a gambling machine. Bartow County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying three people connected to stolen money from gambling machines at a Texaco gas station on Cassville White Road on Nov. 20. Deputies say two men and one woman took money from the gambling machines and redeemed their store credits from the machines for lottery tickets. Upon checking the machines the next day, an employee discovered approximately $2,664 missing. (WSB-TV Atlanta)
  3. A STEM building was named in honor of former president of the school board, Linda Benton. Cartersville High School's new STEM building was named in honor of the late Linda P. Benton. At her retirement in 2017, Benton had served on the Cartersville City School Board for 23 years and 18 of those years were as board president. The three-story building is located where the old gym was and will house a gymnasium, cheer storage and locker room, JROTC classrooms and facility on the first floor, two computer labs and 14 math classrooms on the second floor and 11 science labs on the third floor.
