Cartersville Police Car Struck While Responding To Accident

The accident occurred on the southbound side of the interstate just north of Exit 288, which is the S.R. 113/Main Street interchange.
Georgia State Patrol spokesperson Tracey Watson said an officer with the Cartersville Police Department was investigating a two-vehicle crash when another vehicle traveling southbound struck the patrol unit.

Bartow County Emergency Medical Service said one female patient from the initial crash was transported to Cartersville Medical Center for arm pain.
Cothran added the second collision -- involving the Cartersville police car -- resulted in crews transferring four additional patients to area hospitals for evaluations.
Watson, who said the officer was not injured, added the at-fault driver was charged with following too closely and violating child restraint regulations.
