Police Identify Bicyclist Killed in Cartersville

Cartersville police have identified the man who was killed last week while riding a bicycle along Joe Frank Harris Parkway.
Floyd Eugene Hardin, 54, was fatally wounded when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old motorist who was allegedly under the influence.

Officers with the Cartersville Police Department were called to the scene of the accident along U.S. 41/Joe Frank Harris Parkway at Zena Drive around 3:30 a.m. Oct. 3.
When they arrived onto the scene, they discovered Hardin, who is believed to have been homeless, had been struck while riding a bicycle without lights along the highway, said Cartersville police Capt. Mark Camp.

Camp said the driver of the car, a 22-year-old man, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and “other charges.”
