Police Look For Pickup Truck That Hit Pedestrian

The white truck was hauling a dark-colored trailer when it struck the 53-year-old Cartersville along U.S. 41 north of Grassdale Road.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- A Cartersville man is in critical condition after he was hit by a pickup truck, and authorities are on the lookout for the suspected vehicle.

The white pickup truck hauling a dark-colored trailer was traveling northbound on S.R. 3/U.S. 41/Joe Frank Harris Parkway north of Grassdale Road.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a male pedestrian "walked into the roadway from the east shoulder at the McDonald's parking lot" where there was no street lighting in the area.

The truck struck the pedestrian in the left lane and "fled the scene without stopping," the agency added.

"Witnesses were only able to get a vehicle color description," spokesperson Franka Young added.

The man, identified by troopers as 53-year-old Jeffrey Corley of Cartersville, suffered a possible head injury, Bartow EMS spokesperson Brad Cothran said.

Corley was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition for treatment. Young stated troopers issued lookouts to all surrounding agencies for the truck in question, which was last seen traveling northbound on the highway.
