Police: Three Arrested For Stealing Scooters From Cartersville Business
Three scooters were taken during a Tuesday morning burglary at Castaways, located at 514 North Tennessee Street.

Three people were arrested for allegedly stealing three scooters from a Cartersville business.
An officer with the Cartersville Police Department observed a man operating a scooter near Douglas Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and initiated a traffic stop Tuesday morning, the agency said Wednesday morning in a press release.
The scooter, which appeared to be new, stopped and the male suspect fled on foot. The officers checked in with a business called Castaways at 514 North Tennessee Street, which sells scooters, and learned it had been recently burglarized.

Later that morning, another officer saw three men with a scooter in the area of Douglas and Porter streets.
Further investigation conducted by the officers led to the arrest of the three men: Cornell Anthony Brown, Jr., 20; Karlos Maurice Floyd, 20; and Kevin Dawayne Mitchell, 19, all of Cartersville.

All three suspects have been charged with burglary and other charges are pending, Cartersville police said. They were all booked into the Bartow County Jail after 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12.
A total of three scooters were stolen during the crime, but only two have been recovered.
“I am proud of the quick work of the officers in discovering the burglary and apprehending the suspects,” said Cartersville Police Chief Thomas Culpepper. “A simple traffic stop led to the discovery of a more complicated crime and the possible resolution of other similar incidents.”
The three suspects are also considered person of interest in other similar incidents. The case remains under investigation.
