Here are the top three stories today in Cartersville:
- Participant of the new mental health court program Janet Norris is singing its praises. "This program is saving my life," she said. The 18-month program includes curfews, random drug testing and a lot of support. The program also has aftercare requirements such as continuing mental health treatment. "It's saving people's lives, it's changing people's lives," Norris said. (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
- A former Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputy has been jailed since Feb. 4. on one felony count of aggravated stalking. Cherokee Judicial Circuit Judge Jeffrey A. Watkins denied bond on Feb. 13, stating "I think the defendant is a risk to re-offend." The defendant's spouse is the "named victim in three open cases involving the defendant." - The Cassville White Road Bridge over I-75 will be closed this weekend for construction. The bridge closure will last from Friday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. to Monday, Feb. 20 at 5:30 a.m. "Drivers will still be able to enter and exit the interstate, but not cross over the bridge during the closure times." (Local 3 News)
