Qualifying Ends With Contested Races In Cartersville
Mayor Matt Santini will face challenger Barbara Jackson while Cary Roth and Joey Pogue will battle for the Ward 3 City Council seat.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The time to declare your candidacy to run for either the Cartersville City Council or school board seats has come to an end, and residents will have to consider two contested races on the Nov. 7 ballot.
Qualifying ended Thursday afternoon in the city's municipal and Board of Education races. Here's a rundown of the candidates you can expect to see on the ballot later this year:

- Kari Hodge (incumbent)
City Council Ward 3 (incumbent Louis Tonsmeire did not qualify for re-election)

- Gary Fox (no opposition, as incumbent Dianne Tate did not qualify to seek re-election)
School Board Ward 1

School Board Ward 5
- Louise Morris Panter (no opposition, as incumbent David Apple did not qualify to seek re-election)
School Board Ward 6
- Kelley Dial (incumbent)
The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming election is Oct. 10. You can register to vote by visiting the Bartow County Elections and Voter Registration website. Visit the Georgia Secretary of State's My Voter Page to view your polling place.
