Here are the top three stories today in Cartersville:

1. Red Top Mountain to provide warming station: As Georgia prepares for sub-freezing temps this week, Georgia State Parks are opening warming stations for public use. The Red Top Warming Station will have restrooms, but no food or bedding and it will be located at Group Shelter #1 & #2. Park fees will be waived for those needing to use the warming stations. 2. GDOT to brine interstates and state highways in preparation for winter weather: With freezing temps expected this week, the Georgia Department of Transportation is preparing the interstates and state routes. Brine operations will begin at 7 a.m. Thursday and will continue into Friday as needed. GDOT will also close all Georgia Express Lanes at midnight Thursday and will reopen the Express Lanes as conditions allow. Motorists are asked to limit travel Thursday into Friday morning, but if you must venture out, please allow GDOT crews to safely do their jobs. (dot.ga.gov)
3. A. Dam ice rink opening delayed: The ice rink at A. Dam Food Truck Park & Beer Garden will not be open as soon as planned. A Christmas Eve opening is planned for 12pm-6pm and Christmas Day from 4pm-9pm. (A. Dam Food Truck & Beer Garden via Facebook)
