Report: Cartersville House Fire Reveals Possible Murder-Suicide

Firefighters discovered the bodies of two men late Sunday morning at a home on Westview Drive in unincorporated Cartersville.

Bartow County officials are working to determine the cause of a house fire that also led to the discovery of two bodies.

Firefighters with Bartow County Fire Department were dispatched to the blaze at 45 Westview Drive in unincorporated Cartersville around 10:40 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2.

The fire partially damaged the home and, according to The Daily Tribune News, the bodies of two men were discovered. Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jonathan Rogers told the newspaper local officials are working with the state fire marshal’s office to determine the cause of the fire.

Rogers said it’s possible the fire was set as part of a “homicide-suicide” based upon preliminary evidence collected at the home, according to the report.

Authorities are not releasing the names of the two men until a positive identification can be made. Both bodies were transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab for an autopsy, the newspaper states.
