The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a complaint of a man allegedly peering into the window of a four-year-old child.

A deputy was dispatched to a home on Manning Mill Way in Adairsville just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6. Before his arrival, the deputy was informed by 911 dispatchers that a man was ”caught looking through a four-year-old female’s window (and) ran from the house” when a resident inside the home stepped outside.

According to a sheriff’s office incident report, the resident who placed the 911 call said he became suspicious when his dog began to bark at the bedroom window of the child, who was not home at the time of the incident.

The man said he grabbed his dog and walked out of the room, but the dog ran back to the window and continued to bark, the report states. The caller said he placed the dog into his room and went to the front of the house.

Once he stepped outside, the complainant said he saw the suspect — described as a white male with a medium build, average height and a bald head — allegedly run from the bedroom window towards the back of the neighborhood.

The deputy called the child’s mother, who also was not at home at the time of the incident.

The woman said she believes the suspect allegedly has been going to her daughter’s window since October, as her daughter around Halloween stated she did not like to sleep in her bedroom “because she is afraid of the monsters in her bedroom window,” the report stipulates.

The mother initially thought her daughter’s imagination was at play due to her age, but nevertheless allowed her to sleep in her room for the past three months.

The mother now “believes the offender who ran from her daughter’s window this evening is the monster her daughter was talking about,” the incident report states.

While no footprints were located on the scene, the bushes around the bedroom window did appear to have been disturbed ”as if someone had walked behind them and stopped” in front of the window, the deputy wrote in his report.
