Restaurant Inspections: Excessive Slime Buildup, Worker Preps Food With Bare Hands

The Bartow County Environmental Health Department conducted food service inspections Sept. 20-27 at the following establishments:

Angelos New York Style Pizza & Bistro (Food Service Inspections)*
650 HENDERSON DR STE 101 CARTERSVILLE, GA 30120
View inspections: September 26, 2017 Score: 88, Grade: B

• Observed potentially hazardous food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit (meat slices, ham, cheese slices, pasta salad, tomatoes, eggplant rollatini). CA: Discussed with PIC, food was discarded.
• Observed food stored on floor in walk-in cooler (containers of juice, boxes of pangasuis filets). CA: Informed PIC that food or food contact items must be stored at least 6 inches off the floor.
• Salad prep cooler was not holding potentially hazardous food at 41 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. Discussed with PIC about not using cooler until the issue is fixed. Food was discarded; also informed the PIC that thermometers should be placed inside of the coolers.
• Discussed and provided employee health policy sheets/bodily fluid clean up kit procedures.

• Observed no copy of latest inspection report. CA: Informed PIC that a current copy should be posted at all times.

• No hand washing sign provided at a hand sink used by food employees. PIC was notified and said that he would put signage at each sink that did not have one.
• Discussed revising employee health policy.

• Observed raw chicken stored over a pan of cooked chicken in walk in cooler. CA: Informed PIC that raw animal food can not be stored over ready to eat food.
• Discussed proper date marking procedures.
• Employee health policy/bodily fluid clean up sheets were given and discussed.
