Restaurant Inspections: Mission Road Elementary School Scores 83, or B

The school in Cartersville was cited for expired cheese and food held for over 24 hours at temperatures warmer than 41 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Bartow County Environmental Health Department conducted food service inspections Nov. 25 through Dec. 2 at the following establishments:

  • Observed an open beverage container on a food preparation table or over/next to clean equipment/utensils. After notifying employee & manager, beverage was removed from food area.
  • Observed dirt and scum build up in waste receptacle module of Warewasher machine. Notified management and agreed that employee/s would to clean it.
  • Potentially hazardous food, sausage gravy, not held at 135 degrees Fahrenheit or above. When brought to the general managers attention. it was discarded immediately.

  • Observed encrusted, soiled material on slicer. Observed multiple slicer parts with encrusted food being kept along with clean utensils. After discussing with PIC the utensils were removed immediately.
  • Observed food, nuggets and quesadillas, being held for over 24 hours at temperatures higher than 41degress Fahrenheit. PIC was notified and advised employees to discard those items.
  • Food observed stored past disposal date marked. Observed cheese expired from manufactured date and also expired date marked. PIC was notified and the item was discarded.

Editor’s note: the Bartow County School System released the following statement about Mission Road Elementary School’s food service score:

“Our nutrition staff takes the job of feeding our students very seriously. We are looking into the situation closely and will make the adjustments necessary immediately. Our children’s health and safety is our utmost priority.”
