Sheriff's Office: Inmate Found With Cutting Device in Cell
The Bartow County Sheriff's Office is investigating how an inmate obtained a cutting device used to injure himself Sunday evening.

The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office is investigating how an inmate at its jail obtained a device used to injure himself Sunday evening.
The 35-year-old inmate was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital on Sunday, Oct. 12 after requesting medical assistance from a deputy just before 8 p.m., Sheriff Clark Millsap said in a press release.

Medical staff and the deputy responded and found the man “alone in his cell with multiple cut wounds to his arms,” Millsap said.
The inmate was flown to an Atlanta hospital where he was treated and later released back into the custody of the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office. The inmate is currently under medical watch at the Bartow County Jail, and no other inmates or deputies were injured during this incident.

Millsap said an investigation is underway to determine how the inmate obtained the “cutting device.”
