Shop With A Hero Needs $25,000 To Take Children Christmas Shopping

Organizers of the 2014 Shop With a Hero hope to serve about 300 children in Cartersville and Bartow County.

Organizers with the 2014 Bartow County’s Shop With a Hero event say they need thousands of dollars to make this year’s initiative happen.

According to a Facebook post on the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, organizers need about $25,000 to take roughly 300 underprivileged Bartow County children Christmas shopping. The event is set to take place Saturday, Dec. 20 at Walmart in Cartersville.

“Please open your heart(s) and consider making a donation to this wonderful cause,” the agency said.

Donations can be made in person at any local public safety agency in the county or at a local Bank of the Ozarks branch.

Shop With a Hero which gives less fortunate children the opportunity to shop for Christmas presents with an officer or firefighter. Children are chosen by elementary school staff in either the Bartow County School System or Cartersville City School System.

Each child is given $150 to spend, $100 of which must be spent on clothes and $50 on whatever they wish to buy for themselves or other family members.
