Student Injured in Cartersville School Bus Accident

Cartersville, GA -- One student was treated at the scene of an accident involving a Cartersville City school bus early Thursday morning.

The accident occurred along Tennessee Street near Highland Lane, the Georgia State Patrol said.
Cartersville City Schools Director of Community Relations Vicky Durham said the bus was stopped to pick up a student on the route when a “car ran into the bus from behind.”

About 25 students were on the bus at the time, and Durham stated the students were a mix of pupils who attend Cartersville Primary, Elementary, Middle and High schools.
Durham added that both Cartersville Fire and Bartow EMS crews responded to the crash. The Georgia State Patrol said a 13-year-old male student was injured, but was released on the scene by EMS crews.
