Suspects Charged in Bartow Car Theft Cases

The Bartow County Sheriff's Office worked with several agencies — including the Cartersville Police Department — to crack the case.

Several people have been arrested and charged in connection to a number of vehicle thefts around Bartow County.

Investigators with the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office have arrested and charged Charles Jack “CJ” Hardin, James Michael Daniell, Christopher Robert Lanham, Brittany Lynn Lanham, Caron Elizabeth Collum and Anthony Lee Harris each with theft by taking motor vehicle, theft by receiving stolen property (motor vehicle), fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement officer and obstruction, the agency said in a press release.

Since early January, Bartow deputies and detectives have conducted an investigation into a number of auto thefts, which the sheriff’s office said primarily involved Jeeps, full-size pickup trucks, motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles.

Sheriff Clark Millsap said investigators and deputies “have recovered a number of vehicles reported stolen in Bartow County and from other surrounding cities and counties in northwest Georgia.”

The sheriff’s office worked closely with agencies such as the Cartersville Police Department, Adairsville Police Department, Baldwin County, Alabama, Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, Cobb County Sheriff’s Department, Floyd County Police Department, Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Gordon County Sheriff’s Office and the Gulf Shores, Alabama, Police Department to identify a number of suspects involved in these cases and have recovered most of the stolen property, Millsap added. 

The sheriff’s office said its detectives and other agencies continue to investigate other incidents possibly related to these cases and anticipate more arrests. Additionally, Charles Jack Hardin and James Michael Daniell are currently being held in the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Center in Alabama on similar charges.
