Here are the top three stories today in Cartersville:

  1. A suspicious device was found in Cartersville: Cartersville Police Department officers responded to a report of a suspicious device found on the west side of the city on Monday. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was dispatched to the scene and the device was disposed of. The incident is still under investigation. (Northwest Georgia News)
  2. There was an injury in a multi-car wreck on I-75 Northbound: Early Sunday morning, Georgia State Patrol troopers responded to a four-vehicle wreck on I-75 northbound near mile marker 297. One occupant in a vehicle involved in the accident was flown to Kennestone Hospital via life flight for a possible broken neck. (The Chattanoogan)
  3. Commissioner Taylor OKs an amendment to seek an alcohol ordinance: The question of whether Bartow County should be authorized to issue licenses for package sales of distilled spirits was placed on the November 8 ballot. "That passed 75%-25%, so these amendments simply put that license authority into our existing code of ordinances," Bartow County Administrator Peter Olson said. "So that doesn't mean that every grocery store or convenience store in Bartow County, you can walk into it and you're going to find liquor for sale," he said. "That just opens it up for unincorporated liquor sales." (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
