Trio Denied Bond, Held for Immigration
Three men in the country illegally and accused of shooting at a state trooper had an initial court hearing Tuesday in Canton.
A judge denied bond to three men—all illegal aliens—accused of firing multiple shots at a trooper, which prompted a 22-hour manhunt on the Bartow-Cherokee line, Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Edgar Ortega Maldonado, 35, was deported back in 2009, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. While he is charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and party to a crime of aggravated assault on a police officer, his two alleged accomplices face different charges.
Jose Salvador Vera Lule (first identified as Salvado Vera), 28, and Arturo A. Ramires, 22, were each charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of felony and aggravated assault on a police officer, according to the newspaper.

MDJ reports Maldonado was apprehended by Bartow County's SWAT team about 10 a.m. Monday near Upper Sweetwater Trail, while Lule and Ramires were captured about 5 p.m. some three miles away near Lake Allatoona.
Details of the incident that prompted the state trooper's attempt to pull over the men's Honda Civic are still unclear, as Georgia Bureau of Investigation authorities cite an ongoing investigation.

Bartow County 911 received a report Sunday about 4 p.m. the toward Cartersville. When the trooper spotted the car, the chase began and continued as the men exited the interstate on GA 20 in Cartersville.
After allegedly , including one that broke the windshield, the men ditched the car near Upper Sweetwater Trail and took off on foot through the woods.
Authorities combed 5,500 acres in a search that continued throughout the night and next day.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a hold on the three, who were ordered jailed without bond.
