  1. Parade ushers in Cartersville's holiday season: The planned Dec. 1 festivities at Friendship Plaza in downtown Cartersville promise to be magical. Complimentary photos with Santa are from 3:30 to 5:50 p.m., the Cartersville City Ballet will perform at 5:20 p.m. and free books are available while supplies last from the Bartow County School System.   2. A Cartersville woman was charged with assault: A Cartersville woman was arrested this week after reports of her attempting to "impede the normal breathing of another." Reports indicate the woman tried to strangle the victim. The Cartersville woman is charged with aggravated assault and battery. (Northwest Georgia News)
  3. Classic holiday productions are featured at Cartersville theaters: Classic holiday favorites will be returning again this year to downtown Cartersville's performing arts theaters. The Grand Theatre will feature Cartersville City Ballet's production of "The Nutcracker" along with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra's holiday concert, and The Legion Theatre will present the Pumphouse Players production of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever."   4. The upcoming Jingle Jog benefits Christian League for Battered Women: Cartersville's sixth annual "fun and festive" Jingle Jog will benefit the Christian League for Battered Women. Along with the traditional 5K and Fun Run, Jingle Jog will feature a 10K option, in which participants "will be running to beat the Grinch," Teresa Millsaps says.
