Here are the top three stories today in Cartersville:
- Blood Assurance is in urgent need of most blood types to have shelves fully stocked before spring break. They are in the most need of types O-positive and O-negative. "Traumas increase over the vacation period and our shelves need to be fully stocked ahead of time to support patients at our local hospitals," said Christopher Swafford, Blood Assurance's COO. (wbhfradio.org)
- On Feb. 17, Cass Middle participated in national initiative, 'No One Eats Alone Day.' Students sat at different tables than their usual for lunch and were encouraged to talk to students they had not met before. The nonprofit Beyond Differences provided conversation topic cards for the students to get to know each other. "National No One Eats Alone Day began to help end social isolation with lunch being the focus as students can often feel isolated from their peers during this time," said CMS counselor Lindsay Kesler. - Pet Partners' 2023 Pet of the Year contest has more than 100 pet participants. One of those participants is Cartersville resident Abby Chestnut's therapy rat. You can find more information on Abby and her therapy rat on healingwhiskers.com and more about Pet Partners at petpartners.org. (wbhfradio.org)
