Volunteers Needed For Great Lake Allatoona Cleanup
The 33rd annual event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — Residents who care about the health and appearance of Allatoona Lake and its shoreline are encouraged to sign up and take part in the annual cleanup effort designed to preserve this regional treasure.
The 33rd annual Great Lake Allatoona Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6, and volunteers are needed to help remove tons of debris from its banks. Registration is now open for individuals to sign up for this effort that attracts thousands of like-minded residents.
Volunteers will gather at various points in Bartow and Cherokee counties where they will be assigned particular areas to target for cleaning. Please note organizers will provide trash bags, but they will not provide gloves. Volunteers should come dressed to get dirty, and refrain from wearing sandals or bringing along pets.

After the cleanup activities are done, volunteers are welcome to a free picnic and activities that will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Riverside Park Day Use Area at 531 Allatoona Dam Road SE in Cartersville. The gates will open at 11:45 a.m. for entry to the picnic site.

In 2017, the Great Lake Allatoona Cleanup included about 3,100 volunteers who removed more than 7.3 tons of trash from the lake's shoreline. Anyone who wants to take part in this year's cleanup can register by clicking here.
