Here are the top threestories today in Cartersville:
- "Dangerously cold wind chills are possible:" The National Weather Service has issued an urgent wind chill watch for North and Central Georgia (including Bartow County) in effect starting late Thursday through Saturday morning. If precautions are not taken, the cold wind chills could result in hypothermia. (Cobb County Courier)
- Warming shelter location and times update: The warming shelter scheduled to be located this week at Tabernacle Baptist Church has been relocated to Forever Blessed Church at 51 Maple Ridge Drive, behind Lowe's. It will now be open from 9pm Thursday until 8am Monday. If you have any questions, you can contact Justin Greene at 470-601-4243 or Rusty Gunter at 470-601-3090. (Bartow County Fire & Emergency Services via Facebook)
- Runoff election results audited, procedural changes proposed: On Dec. 14, an audit was conducted of the Dec. 6 U.S. Senate runoff election results. Bartow County Elections Supervisor Joseph Kirk said, "We audited over 35,000 ballots in eight hours. We were off by three ballots, total, and nine votes." That same day, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced a call to the General Assembly to "visit the topic of the general runoff and consider reforms." Kirk agrees that changes to Georgia's runoff election procedures need to be made. (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
