Woman Hit By Car In Walmart Parking Lot In Cartersville
The driver was cited for striking the pedestrian Monday afternoon in Bartow County.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A woman was transported to Cartersville Medical Center after she was hit by a truck Monday afternoon in the Walmart parking lot in Bartow County. A deputy with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office was dispatched around 6:55 p.m. April 2 to the accident at 101 Marketplace Boulevard in Cartersville.
The driver of the 2004 Ford F-150 said he was leaving the store when a woman "walked out in front his truck and he was unable to stop in time before striking the female," according to BCSO's incident report.
The man said he did not mean to hit the victim on purpose. The woman, a 47-year-old Waleska resident, was unable to speak to the deputy, as she was being treated by emergency personnel on the scene.

According to the report, a witness said she was walking to her car when she learned a loud noise followed by a woman yelling. She ran to the next row of cars and found the victim lying on the ground and holding her leg and head.
That witness also said the driver of the Ford "jumped out of the truck and began apologizing immediately and kept saying it was an accident." The report notes the pedestrian also told the driver that she knew he did not hit her on purpose and that the collision was only an accident.

The driver was cited for driver must use care to avoid a pedestrian, and the victim was transported to the hospital for continued care.
