Woman Shot In Back in Cartersville

Cartersville police are investigating an apparent shooting that left one woman wounded Tuesday evening.

An officer with the agency was dispatched around 10:41 p.m. July 14 to a home on Carrington Drive, which sits off Douthit Ferry Road.

The officer met with a witness, who said he heard two gunshots close to his home. The man said he went out to his porch and heard a woman ”screaming for someone to help her,” according to an incident report released by the agency.

The witness said he brought the woman into his home, took her downstairs and “turned all the lights out” after they realized she had a gunshot wound to the right side of her back.

The woman told the witness she did not know who shot her. She received medical treatment while remaining in stable condition, the report states.
