The scholarship funds are raised each fall at a golf tournament hosted by Family Savings. For the 2014-2015 school year, the business was able to award seven $1,000 scholarships, which can be applied toward academic expenses at the student’s chosen college.

He also served on the Boards of Directors such as the United Way of Etowah County (Alabama), Boys and Girls Club and Boy Scouts of America. Glassco passed away in 2008 following an extended illness.

To be considered, students were required to send a copy of their high school transcript, three letters of recommendation, a statement of their goals and a student resume. The recipients were chosen based heavily on extracurricular activities, community involvement and academic performance. This year, just over 200 applications were received from various seniors throughout Georgia and Alabama.
