Woodland Student Signs with Tuskeegee

Woodland football star Ashton Shelton signed Wednesday a letter of intent at a group signing event in Roswell.

During a 10-day stretch in mid-January, Ashton Shelton and his family went on a recruiting roadtrip. The Woodland quarterback visited Georgetown College and Cumberland College, both in Kentucky; Tuskegee in Alabama; and Newberry in South Carolina, among others.

Wednesday, the senior finally made a decision about his future when he announced at Andretti Indoor Karting in Roswell he' will attend Tuskegee.

Those who watched Shelton play this season may be surprised to find out that Shelton won't play quarterback at Tuskegee, he'll play wide receiver.

"I wanted to come in as a receiver," said Shelton. "The coaches wanted me to come in as a receiver and a punt returner, so things just kind worked out perfectly."

Although Shelton will be switching to receiver, he'll gladly play quarterback if the opportunity comes.
