• Two new proposed class-action lawsuits seek damages over BioLab fire (gpb.org) — Residents in and around Conyers are pursuing two new proposed federal class-action lawsuits over health problems they link to the 2024 BioLab fire, seeking damages, medical monitoring, and environmental cleanup. The suits build on federal investigators' findings about the plant's safety failures and come as the shuttered facility remains for sale, keeping long-term community impacts in the spotlight.
• The Conyers Latin Festival is happening this Sunday in Olde Town (atlantaonthecheap.com) — Olde Town Conyers will host the free Conyers Latin Festival this Sunday, October 4, from noon to 6 p.m., featuring live music, cultural performances, food, and kids' activities. Residents are encouraged to bring their culture's flag, enjoy the Kidzone and health fair, and plan for limited parking near 901 Railroad Street.
• Can a school grocery store boost attendance? (kaiserpermanente.org) — C.J. Hicks Elementary in Conyers now hosts a no-cost grocery store that's drawing about 200 families a month and appears to be boosting student attendance. The program, supported by Kaiser Permanente and Goodr, helps address food insecurity in Rockdale County while underscoring how access to fresh food can improve kids' health and school success.
