Alpharetta Scholarship Foundation Hosts
Charity Golf Tournament October 09th, 2014 at the Country Club of
Roswell.
ALPHARETTA, GA - - The Rita Evonne
Fraiser (REF) Foundation, an organization that provides scholastic assistance
to students studying Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
will host their first annual golf tournament and fundraiser Thursday, October 09th,
2014.
Set at the Country Club of Roswell, the
golf tournament is designed to not only bring together some of the area’s best
golfers but also to raise money to support economically disadvantaged youth
interested in the STEM fields across the country.
“These fields are important to
America’s future,” says Rita Evonne Fraiser, the former science teacher and
administrator for which the foundation is named. “There is a shortage of
students majoring in the STEM fields. We are doing our part to not only
increase interest but to also support them on their journey.”
The goals of the REF Foundation
include:
■
Provide financial assistance to
students majoring in Engineering, Mathematics, Science or Technology
■
Establish mentoring programs that
foster leadership skills
■
Encourage students to strive for high
scholastic and ethical standards in life and technical fields
■
Assist schools in funding their Math
and Science programs
■
Provide opportunities for students to
participate in a variety of cultural experiences promoting their field of study
■
Create opportunities for corporations
and colleges to connect with qualified individuals through internships,
