FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — Authorities say they have arrested a man who tried to rob someone at gunpoint Wednesday morning at the intersection of McGinnis Ferry and Old Atlanta roads.

Authorities say Khalil Burgess, 23, came up behind a person who was standing at the gas pumps and tried to steal their car.

During the incident, authorities said Burgess pulled out a gun and shot at the person, who was not injured in the shooting. Burgess was accused of then fleeing the scene.

Authorities canvassed a nearby neighborhood, where Burgess was found at a home in the St. Marlo community, the sheriff's office stated.

Burgess was arrested without incident and was charged with armed robbery, motor vehicle hijacking and aggravated assault, authorities said.

A court appearance for Burgess is set for Thursday, according to Forsyth County Jail records. He is being held without bond, jail records showed.
