Cumming Man Charged With Robbing Pharmacy at Gunpoint

Despite his blue wig and sunglasses, Forsyth County detectives say they used a unique tattoo to identify Michael Patton, 46, as the suspect.

CUMMING, GA β€” A Forsyth County man is under arrest after authorities say he donned a blue wig and sunglasses and stole drugs from a local pharmacy at gunpoint.

Michael Patton, 46, of Cumming, is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during a crime.

At about 7:53 p.m. Wednesday, a suspect wearing a blue wig and sunglasses entered the Bethelview Pharmacy, at 5610 Bethelview Rd., according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The man approached a pharmacist, revealed a handgun and demanded Xanax and Testosterone.

He left the pharmacy with an undisclosed amount of the drugs, sheriff's deputies say.

Responding officers were given a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle and were able to view in-store video. Detective reviewing the video were able to see a large and unique tattoo on the back of the suspect's head.

Using the tattoo and other details, detectives searched Forsyth County Jail booking photos and say they were able to identify the suspect as Patton.

At about 10:48 p.m., deputies saw a vehicle registered to Patton and matching the description of the suspect's vehicle leaving Patton's home. A traffic stop was conducted and Patton was taken into custody.

He was booked into Forsyth County Jail, with no immediate bond.
