Former Forsyth Sheriff's Spokesman Indicted On Sex Assault Charges

Frank Huggins retired from the sheriff's office in 2010 and was working as a driving instructor.

CUMMING, GA β€” A grand jury has indicted a former spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office on charges that he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl.

Frank Augustus Huggins, 69, was indicted on charges of sexual battery and sexual assault of a student.

Huggins was arrested in October on charges stemming from the incident.

Huggins is accused of attempting to grope a teenage girl multiple times while she was driving, in his capacity as a driving instructor at Lanier Technical College. Huggins retired as a captain from the sheriff's office in 2010.

Detectives say they confirmed the teen victim’s allegations using video and audio evidence from camera footage recovered from inside the vehicle.

According to the indictment, which was handed down Monday, the incident happened on October 4, 2016. It says Huggins engaged "in sexual contact by touching the inner thigh" of the student driver.

Huggins attorney has denied the charges.
