Former K-9 Officer Sheba Dies

A bloodhound, Sheba helped track down many suspects and find many lost people, according to the Forsyth County sheriff's office.

CUMMING, GA β€” Sheba, a former K-9 officer with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, has passed away.

The sheriff's office announced Sheba's passing in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Sheba was a bloodhound and had been living with her former handler, Cpl. Kevin Mitchell, since retiring in 2014.

"During her time at the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, K-9 Sheba helped track down many suspects and missing people," the sheriff's office said in the post. "Thank you for your service to our county, K-9 Sheba!"

Sheba had been battling cancer, according to the sheriff's office.
