Forsyth Deputy Rescues Teen Heroin Overdose Victim

It's the second time in just over a week a Forsyth deputy has administered Naloxone to a teen in an overdose situation.

CUMMING, GA -- For the second time in just over a week, a Forsyth County deputy on Wednesday administered a drug and possibly saved the life of a teen suffering a heroin overdose.

Early Wednesday morning, Deputy Justin Voss responded to a call involving a 19 year old who appeared to be overdosing on heroin.

According to a sheriff's office post on Facebook, Voss administered a dose of Naloxone, a drug designed to counteract the effects of heroin during an overdose.

The teen showed some improvement, the post said, but was still not responding to deputies and was having difficulty breathing.

EMS personnel arrived and administered another dose of Naloxone. This time, the teen became conscious and responsive. He was being treated at a nearby hospital Wednesday, the post said.

It was the second time in just over a week that Forsyth deputies used the drug to save a teen apparently overdosing on heroin.

Last Monday, Deputy Rodney Pirkle administered Naloxone to a 17 year old, potentially saving his life from a similar heroin overdose, the sheriff's office said.
