Summer Camps In Forsyth: When Does Registration Begin?

More than 100 camp options are available for kids age 3-18 this year.

CUMMING, GA β€” Spring has sprung, meaning that summer camp time is right around the corner.

Registration for Forsyth County Parks & Recreation summer camps will begin on Saturday, April 1.

The county is offering more than 100 camp options for kids age 3-18 this summer, including recreation day camps, sports camps, Safety Town, adventure camps and specialty camps.

Recreation Day Camps

These week-long day camps at Central Park, Fowler Park and Old Atlanta Park will provide a structured schedule of indoor and outdoor activities including games, art, fitness, special guests, weekly field trips and other theme-related activities.

The camps will be held at the county recreation centers weekdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for ages 6 through 10. Extended hours are available for an additional cost.

Camp themes include H20 Explosion, X-treme Science, Back Yard Olympics, Treasure Hunters, Stars and Stripes, and Camp Carnival.

The cost of each camp is $110. Central Park is located at 2300 Keith Bridge Rd. Fowler Park is located at 4110 Carolene Way. Old Atlanta Park is located at 810 Nichols Rd.

Sports Camps

A wide variety of sports camps for ages 3-18 will be offered this summer including baseball, basketball, cheerleading, gymnastics, football, lacrosse, softball, tennis, volleyball and wrestling.

Kids can learn new techniques or brush up on their skills. Sports camps are offered throughout the county at various parks and school locations.

Safety Town

Children ages 4-5 are invited to learn important safety tips in a fun way this summer with the week-long Safety Town camps. Topics covered during the five-day program include fire safety, water safety, car and bus safety, stranger danger, poison safety, gun safety and more.

Children will also enjoy learning traffic safety while driving kid carts through the child-sized "Safety Town Village."

This year’s Safety Town camps will be held at Sharon Springs Park, located at 1950 Sharon Rd. They will be offered each week in June. Parents can select either a 9 a.m.-noon session or a 1-4 p.m. session.

The cost is $85 per session.

Sawnee Mountain Preserve Camps

Youth ages 4-15 are invited to get adventurous this summer at Sawnee Mountain Preserve, where they can participate in camps that focus on outdoor adventure and environmental education.

Some of the camp options this year are Little Explorers Camp, Wet and Wild Adventure Camp, Outdoor Adventure Camp, Climbing Camp, Whitewater Kayak Camp as well as nature and science camps.

The camp hours, cost and ages vary for the camps. Sawnee Mountain Preserve is located at 4075 Spot Rd.

Specialty Camps

Is your child looking to learn something new this summer? Find out about these unique camp offerings: culinary arts camp, automotive camp, babysitter camp, etiquette camp, magic camp, archery camp and more.

The camp hours, locations, cost and ages vary for these camps.

How to Register

Register online by visiting the Forsyth County Parks & Recreation website or stop by in person at any of the county’s three recreation centers, located at Central Park, Fowler Park and Old Atlanta Park on Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registration will also be accepted via fax and mail.

Please note that costs listed are for Forsyth County residents. There is an additional charge for non-residents.
