Forsyth 'Touch-A-Truck' Set For Sept. 9

Child-safety seat inspections also will be offered at the kid-friendly event in Cumming.

CUMMING, GA — The opportunity for Forsyth County kids to "touch a truck" is coming up soon.

The event, during which children are allowed to get up close and personal with a fire truck and other emergency equipment, is set for Saturday, Sept. 9 at Fowler Park, located at 4110 Carolene Way in Cumming.

The event will run from 9 a.m.-noon and is free to the public.

Sponsored by Safe Kids Forsyth and the Forsyth County Fire Department, the event also will offer a chance for parents to have the installation of their child safety seats inspected.

"Unfortunately, all too often we see that child safety seats are not properly installed," said fire department Division Chief Jason Shivers. "This event provides attendees the chance to have trained technicians inspect their car seats and ensure they are installed properly. The technicians will also review with the parent or caregiver how to properly install the seat themselves. We want to help ensure children are always riding safely."
