Hall County Woman Killed In North Forsyth Crash

The fatal wreck happened on Dahlonega Highway at Mountain Road a little after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, the Forsyth County Sheriff's office says.

CUMMING, GA β€” A Hall County woman has been identified as the woman killed in a car crash in north Forsyth County Tuesday evening.

Alicia Velazquez, 24, of Gainesville, was a passenger in a 2009 Volkswagen Passat that was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday on Dahlonega Highway at Mountain Road.

Velazquez was pronounced dead upon arrival at Northside Forsyth Hospital, said Deputy First Class Andrew Ives, a traffic specialist with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

According to the sheriff's office, the driver of the Volkswagen, Josue Gomez, of Sugar Hill, failed to yield and turned left onto Mountain Road. The Passat was then struck by the F-150, driven by Oscar Garcia, of Cumming.

A helicopter was brought into the crash area to attempt to fly Velazquez to a hospital but, according to fire department division Chief Jason Shivers, her condition worsened on the scene to the point where she wasn't able to fly.

Gomez and Garcia were transported to North Fulton Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The sheriff's office said charges are pending upon completion of the investigation into the crash.

Traffic on Dahlonega Highway and Mountain Road was blocked for several hours Tuesday evening as police and emergency workers rescued the crash victims and investigated the scene.
