Last Victim in Murder-Suicide Dies

The last victim in a murder-suicide in July died Friday, according to the AJC.

Jerry Manning, 75, suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the shootings on July 22 in his home on Old Atlanta Road in Forsyth County.

Manning’s grandsons Jacob Smith, 9, and Jared Smith, 8, were pronounced dead at the scene. Manning’s daughter, Rebecca Manning, 37, died soon after she was transported to a hospital.

The alleged shooter, Matthew Fields, 32, was found dead at the home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Fields was Rebecca Manning’s husband.

A family member told the AJC that Jerry Manning had been recovering from his injuries.
