The shift will let workers finish the bridge that is part of the work going on to expand Bethelview Road.

CUMMING, GA β€” Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will shift traffic on Bethelview Road starting at noon on Wednesday.

The traffic shift, onto newly constructed sections of Bethelview Road and the completed half of the bridge there, will allow crews to complete the other half of the bridge.

The traffic shift is a part of the widening and reconstruction of Bethelview Road, beginning at Castleberry Road and extending to State Route 20.

The project is designed to improve safety and capacity on Bethelview Road through the widening of the existing two lanes to a four-lane roadway with a 20-foot raised median, curb and gutter and 5-foot sidewalks.

Motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds while traveling through the work zone. Message boards will be placed at the beginning and end of the traffic shift. Motorists are also encouraged to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511 for real-time information.
